Certificate: Luciano Anelli, Brescia (on Andrea Locatelli). Paolo Monaldi specialised in cheerful bamboccianti scenes; see “Village scene with a musician” and “Family scene in the open air” (Accademia di San Luca, Rome) and “Landscape with village group” (see A. Busiri Vici, Trittico paesaggistico romano: Monaldi, Anesi, De Marchi, Rome 1975, pp. 266f., fig. PM 7, 8, 10). Two paintings closed related in terms of composition and details to Monaldi's painting were sold at the Dorotheum, Vienna, on 6 October 2009 as lots 261 and 262.
